The Presenter:

Jack C. McRae is Premera’s Senior Vice President of Congressional and Legislative Affairs. In this capacity, he is responsible for federal and state government relations. Prior to joining the company in 1994, McRae served as Chief of Staff for United States Senator Slade Gorton. McRae has more than twenty-five years experience in public affairs and government relations, spending 10 years as Director of Public Affairs for PACCAR, Inc., a Fortune 200 company, where he developed the government relations, media relations and employee communications departments. McRae was born in Seattle, WA and holds a B.A. from Seattle Pacific University and a master's degree in International Economics from the University of Puget Sound.

Health Care Proposals

Aaron Katz will review the health care proposals of the presidential candidates and identify areas of agreement and disagreement among them. He'll then discuss what appear to be the "diagnoses" that underlie these proposals and the extent to which they might improve access, quality, or cost.

The Presenter:

Aaron Katz is a senior lecturer in the Department of Health Services, University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine. He has held numerous academic leadership positions, including his current role director of the Packard-Gates Population Leadership Program. He was director of the UW Health Policy Analysis Program from 1988 until 2003. Aaron teaches several graduate level courses in health policy, and edits the School’s biannual journal, Northwest Public Health. Aaron has worked in health policy and planning in Washington State since 1978, having served previously as a health planner, policy and planning consultant, lobbyist, and political adviser. He has directed numerous policy analysis and policy development projects for legislative bodies, state and local public agencies, and private sector clients, including work on health system reform, public health reform, managed care, rural access, HIV/AIDS, workers compensation, long term care, medical economics, and services for people with low incomes.
