Presenters:

Dr. John Mignone is the Robert M and Patricia Arnold Endowed Medical Director for Advanced Heart Failure at Swedish. Dr. Mignone has an extensive background in basic science research receiving his PhD from the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory working in molecular genetics and creating one of the foremost models of neural stem cell generation. He completed his medical training at Duke Medical School and Came to the University of Washington where he performed another three years of basic science research in cardiac stem cell and regeneration with Chuck Murray. Dr. Mignone Completed his Cardiology Fellowship and another subspecialty in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology before being recruited to direct the Herat Failure program at Swedish.

Chris Nelson, is the Vice President of Federal and Tribal Affairs at Hello Heart, where he leads efforts to improve cardiovascular health among veterans and tribal communities. With a Master’s degree in Statistical Analysis, focused on medical risk, from the University of Florida, Chris brings 26 years of experience working in the federal and tribal space. He’s dedicated to bridging gaps in healthcare access and empowering individuals to take control of their health.

Melanie Wagner, Health Engagement consultant.  Melanie began her career with UHC in 2016 as a Health Engagement Nurse, currently supporting the PNW markets as a Health Engagement consultant.  Prior to becoming a registered nurse, she was Director of Operation for a property and casualty/employee benefits consulting firm.  After graduating nursing school in 2013, Melanie found her place in Emergency and Trauma nursing. 

Up until 2022, she continued to work a few weekends a month in the ER finding it helped to keep a pulse (pun intended) as to what the member experience are at the front lines of healthcare.
