Manuel Mendoza, ERISA Counsel with USI Insurance Services will address a number of valuable topics during his presentation including the upcoming Transparency in Coverage guidance and regulations; what pieces of the legislation have been delayed and the reporting on Pharmacy Benefits and Drug Costs, The Washington Long Term Care Act and current state of affairs. Manuel will also cover the MHPAEA NQTL testing requirements and the Comparative Analysis Summary. He will also touch on the Federal No Surprises Act.
Speakers
Dr. Sunita Mishra is an internist with over 20 years of experience, and a healthcare executive with special focus on consumerism in healthcare and primary care design. Sunita currently serves as Medical Director of Care Medical at Amazon Care.
Most recently, she worked at Providence Health & Services where she founded Providence ExpressCare clinics. She has also worked at Virginia Mason medical group during their “Lean” transformation. Prior to that, she worked in Singapore, at Raffles Medical Group where she chaired the clinical standards committee.
Sunita earned her MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, the Wharton School, where she focused on management and entrepreneurship. She studied medicine at the University of Arizona and completed Internal Medicine training at the University of Washington.
Manuel Mendoza serves as the In-House ERISA Counsel for USI’s Northwest region, advising the employee benefits practice group. Manuel has over 10 years experience, primarily focusing on employment benefit legislation, compliance, and the corresponding legal challenges. Manuel provides guidance regarding compliance and legal issues related to group health and welfare benefit plans for both private and public sector employers. He regularly interacts with regulatory agencies such as the DOL, IRS, CMS, HHS, and state insurance departments. In addition, Manuel is a regular speaker at national and state conferences sponsored by private and public employers and a contributor to employee benefit publications. Prior to joining USI, Manuel served at the United States Department of Labor (DOL) Employee Benefits Security Administration. While employed at the DOL, Manuel helped employers comply with various federal laws governing health and welfare plans, conducted criminal investigations, and supported civil enforcement litigation and criminal prosecutions. Manuel graduated with a J.D. from Chapman University, Dale E. Fowler School of Law and is a licensed attorney in the state of California. Event Details
